Save Money on Gas With a Hybrid Car
Recent consumer studies have shown that in the long run hybrid cars use less gas and save you money, even taking into account the higher cost of hybrid vehicles. In the future this cost gap is expected to reduce as hybrid cars gain in popularity, and you may even be able to get tax breaks on the cost of these cars. Governments are under pressure to reduce carbon emissions, so many are offering generous tax breaks on hybrid cars. With the rising price of gas hybrid cars will also gain in popularity as the difference in purchase prices will be quickly recovered in the lower use of gas. Hybrid cars use an average of fifty to sixty percent less gas than a conventional car. They do this by using two engines, a traditional – although very efficient – gas engine and a battery, which is charged by the motion of the car. The mechanism for how the two engines work together varies between manufacturers, but hybrid cars generally save most gas when used by standard commuters as the stopping of the car is the main mechanism for charging the battery.
The savings with hybrid cars do not stop with the gas. Hybrid cars are also
cheaper to maintain. They have a smaller engine and this engine is also used
less, so it wears slower. Hybrid cars also tend to come with long warranties –
which even include the battery! |
